Opera 9.60 final for Linux released yesterday, with a great number of new features( link 1, link 2), making you more faster sufing on the net… well, I just had a try last night, it’s really faster and cool.

To install the latest Opera 9.60 for Linux on your Fedora Core 9 desktop, please download it form here, or download the rpm package directly from Opera ftp, well I downloaded the RPM package here.

To install the latest version, please remove the older version first, open a teminal and type rpm -e opera , and then press Enter. After then cd to your download directory and type yum -ivh opera-9.60.gcc4-qt4.i386.rpm

Some latest news on opensource:

Linus Torvalds started a blog on blogspot, http://torvalds-family.blogspot.com/

I created a group Fedora User Group in soup.io with the URL http://fedoragroup.pengjiayou.com, it’s a collection of my favorite Feeds, which you can learn Fedora in both Chinese and English languages.

Nvidia released the latest 177.80 display driver, it’s not available in FTP yet ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/ , so please download it from http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_177.80.html

I upgraded my Fedora 9 to the up-dated last night, Kernel updated to 2.6.26.5-45, and Nvidia driver to 177.80, but after upgradation, my mobile broadband in Network Manager didn’t work any longer, it’s some problems caused by SELinux, so I had to disable SELinux.

That’s easy, open a teminal, and type cp /etc/sysconfig/selinux /etc/sysconfig/selinux_backup, and then type gedit /etc/sysconfig/selinux, then change the first line in the file to “SELINUX=disabled“.

Reboot your system, and the Network Manager mobile broadband worked fine!~~~

GMLive is a convenient frontend to watch mms, sopcast and nslive web streaming TV, it’s one of the best solutions to watch live videos on Linux, I just installed GMLive on my Fedora 9 desktop, it’s really cool!

Well, to install GMLive on your Fedora 9 linux system, please download the latest release of GMLive here, the latest version is 0.20.3 which you can click here and download it to your hardrive.

Before you get started, first of all, please decompress the downloaded file, and cd to the gmlive-0.20.0 directory to compile, and then executive command ./configure –prefix=/usr/local/gmlive

If the compile process stopped by the mistake below:

checking for PACKAGE… configure: error: Package requirements (gtkmm-2.4 >= 2.6.0 libglademm-2.4 >= 2.4.0 libxml-2.0 >= 2.6.0) were not met:

No package ‘gtkmm-2.4′ found
No package ‘libglademm-2.4′ found
No package ‘libxml-2.0′ found

then please intall the following packages, yum install gtkmm24 gtkmm24-devel libglademm24 libglademm24-devel libxml2 libxml2-devel

And, I searched on Google and found someone builded a RPM package of the latest GMLive, you can download it from here and then install it by execute rpm -ivh gmlive-0.20.3-6.7.src.rpm

GMLive already added most of the famous and popular Chinese TV programmes, but if you want to watch of your own, you can open a terminal and run following commands, then you can find the channel list in gmlive.

$ nslive -p 33
$ nsweb

You can add yoru favorite TVs or download the latest mms.lst file and replace the one in /usr/share/gmlive/ directory. Enjoy!
